Week 25

We have been learning about weather and where else can you get all seasons of the year in one day? Nowhere but Texas! Hope you enjoyed some extra snuggle time with your child on our snow day.

Our close read this week was the book, Storms.

We had a lot of fun reading Dr. Seuss books this week as we celebrated his birthday. We also read many books from the book fair too. Thanks to the parents who purchased some for our class.

I had a former student (who is now a first grader) come read a personal narrative to our class. This helps get kindergarten students excited about writing and going to first grade.

In math, we worked on comparing numbers. We used a tool called the rekenrek when we compared numbers. This helps us see "how many more" when we are trying to compare.

We also began a unit on measuring and read this book to introduce us to different kinds of measurements.

We learned about Mr. and Mrs. Measurement to help us with standard and nonstandard forms of measurement. We sorted and identified different tools used to measure.

Texas Independence Day was on March 2nd. We celebrated by making Texas flags.

We learned a special Texas song to the tune of Bingo.

I hope that you are able to come to Family Night tonight for the book fair. Please look for a wristband in your child's folder if you plan on attending to be entered in a special raffle.
