Week 22

This week was all about love and kindness. Our close read this week was a book called Each Kindness.

This spurred lots of conversation about ways to be kind to others. We learned that the words we say have a ripple effect on others. We found pebbles from the playground and dropped them into water as we said something kind we have done or something kind we could do.

Here are the vocabulary words from the story.

We also read another great book about being kind. Ask your child what it means to fill someone's bucket.

Another favorite this week was a Valentine book about a boy who wrote some mean valentines. He was remorseful and realized how his words hurt his friend's feelings.

Our sight words this week were "will" and "be".

We worked on the digraphs "th" and "sh" this week with the help of the H family. Ask your child to tell you about Bad Thad, Charlie, Willie and Shelly.

In math, we continued to work on our teen numbers, 3D shapes and addition. We played roll and cover with a partner to practice addition skills. We are continuing to love tile time too.

We also used dominoes to aid in our addition facts.

In science, we learned about the basic needs of plants and animals.

We read many other Valentine books this week. Here are a few more.

I was so impressed with the Valentine boxes that the students made. They were so proud. Aren't they amazing!!!!

A huge thank you to all of the parents who helped out with our Valentine party and also to the ones who brought supplies. We all had a fabulous time.
