Week 6

We continued our color week with purple on Monday.

We enjoyed reading these purple books.

Tuesday was pink day.

We enjoyed reading these pink books.

The girls had a fun pink day at recess and centers too.

Wednesday was black and white day.

I had to take a picture of this cutie in her cat dress.

Harry and the Dirty Dog was a fun story this day.

 Thursday was brown day.

Most of us were familiar with this book and could already read our brown book.

Friday was our rainbow day. Some of us had very colorful rainbow clothes and some chose to wear their favorite color.

We love listening to stories and these are the rainbow books we read.

We learned how to remember the colors of the rainbow with our help from our friend Roy G Biv.

Our close read this week helped us to learn about the seasons.

Here are the vocabulary words we learned from this story.

We made fall trees as a culminating project.

Our sight word this week was "the".

We learned the letters Tt-Xx, but I missed getting pictures of all of the letters. Sorry, our days were jam packed this week.

We learned a new reading strategy during our guided reading time. Eagle Eye helps us to remember to look at the pictures to help us figure out what the word might be.

We enjoy working with Mrs. Langham during Daily 5. Our book boxes are becoming full of books that we have learned how to read, and we enjoy playing games at the table with her too. We worked on reading nonfiction books this week too, and learned about their features.

Pokey pin words are a fun way to learn sight words while working on our fine motor skills.

In math this week, we learned about sorting by attributes. We learned how to sort attribute blocks by color, shape and size and practiced doing each.

We sorted and graphed our eye color.

We made self portraits.

Then we had fun sorting ourselves by other attributes.

This week, science was all about colors. We learned about primary colors and mixing colors to make secondary colors after reading the book Mouse Paint.

We practiced mixing colors after reading this book by mixing shaving cream and paint.

We mixed colored water to make secondary colors too and recorded our observations.

Our big test was when we were given 3 colors and we had to make all the colors of the rainbow to paint our own rainbows.

We made predictions and recorded our observations when we mixed milk, food coloring and liquid dish soap.

We were so happy that the weather cooperated again so that we could go to Hill Harbor.
