Week 8

It sure was nice meeting with everyone at parent conferences and discussing your child's progress. Thank you for taking the time to be an important part of your child's education. I appreciate it.

We had many interruptions this week. In addition to our regularly scheduled library, computer lab, and Hill Harbor, we also had a visit from Mother Goose.

In language arts, we are reviewing letters and paying closer attention to initial and final sounds in words. This week, we focused on Oo and Gg. We learned that Oo has both a long and a short sound.

Our close read this week was a fun book with an important lesson.

Here are the vocabulary words from this book.

Our sight word this week was "and".

In writing, we got new writing folders. We are writing on loose paper with lines. We were also given an alphabet chart to help us identify sounds when we are writing.

In math, we finished up our third unit and took an assessment test. We began learning about number lines and the process of adding one more to a number without having to recount.

We enjoyed learning how to play new math games.

In science, we have been learning about the three physical states of matter: solids, liquids and gases.

Mother Goose was a huge hit. Here are some pics from her visit with us.
