Week 20

We continued our unit on Arctic animals. This week, we studied polar bears. We focused on these books about them.

Here is the vocabulary from the story.

We recorded our learning about polar bears. This helped us with our nonfiction writing. We finished our week by watching the movie Arctic Tales.

We reviewed short vowel sounds and practiced identifying medial sounds in words. We also worked on the silent e at the end of words. Our sight words this week were "is" and "how".

In math, we began working on teen numbers. We are also working on counting to 100 by 1's and 10's. We had fun playing a game to help us with that. We also enjoyed playing our new math centers. Tile time continues to be a favorite time in math.

In social studies, we began learning about our community and helpers in our community. We loved having the fireman visit us and learn about their job.

We will be celebrating our 100th day of school on Wednesday, February 4th. Please have snack items to me by February 3rd. Thanks to those who have already brought in the donated items. It should be a really fun day!
